From Hyperconvergence to the Hybrid Cloud

The management of the data centre and the essential services offered from the ICT department, end up having to face a set of technologies, suppliers and devices. This means a significant operational cost, a problem in scalability and a greater number of incidents. In order to solve these problems, hyperconvergent solutions were developed.

Our specialists Jorge Bueno and Arturo Marín explain to us: what is hyperconvergence, what type of relationship exists between hyperconvergence and the hybrid cloud, as well as its integration with providers and, above all, what type of solutions we have available for our clients.

What is hyperconvergence?

(J): Hyperconvergence is the unification of storage, processing, and networking into a single hardware, which simplifies IT operations and reduces the number of associated incidents. Above the hardware layer, there is an intelligent software that controls the infrastructure in a centralized way, separating the management and maintenance of the hardware with its own functionality such as server and hypervisor management, archiving and backup.

(A): Not only will we have more efficient resources but it will also allow you to improve the availability of your services to reduce failures and therefore the perception of your customer will improve.

How does hyperconvergence relate to the cloud?

(J): Hyperconvergence is evolving towards webscale technology which allows you to centrally manage your resources in the public and private cloud. This is what we call a hybrid cloud. Webscale technology brings the advantages of the cloud to our data centre. Because it is based on hyper-converged infrastructure, scalability is assured with plug & play nodes, it is fault-tolerant with distributed operations and data, and with data replication. In this type of infrastructure everything is controlled by intelligent software so the evolution of it is done via updates and innovation and evolution is continuous.

(A): All these points translate into a considerable improvement in business continuity, facilitating the scaling of resources and their efficiency, all managed automatically.

How does it integrate with the public supplier clouds?

(J): All of our hyperconverged infrastructure products integrate with common cloud providers such as Amazon, Google and Azure.

(A): These products have an important advantage which is the flexibility to move between different types of clouds without being tied down, so that you can decide according to your needs.

What products do you have of hyperconvergent infrastructure?

(J): We have hyperconverged products that cover the infrastructure cycle related to servers and hypervisors with Nutanix, archiving with Cloudian and backup with Rubrik.

(A): With these three solutions we can manage the infrastructure with the same ease as working in the cloud, considerably reducing operating costs.
